Why would you switch in the first place? Ive done 5 different cam changes , all different engines... just reused the stock ones. Never had a problem.

recommended to me that it helps cut down on valvetrain noise.

Original stock LS1's lifters are Junk! 100's of threads on this! LS7's are now a stock replacement, and are good insurance especially since you are in the that far of a build. Period!

if you are all ready doing a head and cam swap, just do them ,for the price its kinda dumb not to upgrade,I didn't do mine when I did just a cam swap but when I put the heads on in spring I will be swapin the lifters,I have a really big cam though,I know a lot of people that just left the stockers in there on a h/c swap and they haven't had any issues, imo if the heads are off do them, what kind of miles does your car have?also what setup are you gonna run,?

Car has 23K miles on it, and basically stock except for headers, exhaust, lid. I'll be running TEA 62cc 5.3 heads and an EPS 226/230 112LSA cam (lift under .600).

i would say that you should be fine, i am changing to LS7 lifters on my heads and cam swap cause my motor has 130k on it. but with under 30k, i say keep them, unless you are using an aggressive ramp profile cam, u should be fine

A lot of guys reuse them. I wouldn't be terribly concerned if it were a lower mileage engine. The reason most guys change them is due to having to take the heads to to swap them. If you are doing a heads/cam swap, it's a good time to do them. However, if they look good and not giving you a problem, it's not terrible to reuse them. Just make sure they don't have any excessive wear on them. LS7's aren't any quieter than the OE part. Setting up your valvetrain with the correct geometry and preload will take care of the excessive noise.

My car has 43,000 miles and I'll be using the stockers when I do my head/cam swap.

I left the stock lifters in mine, but they did't last. So I went ahead and got the LS7's.

I favor Comp 850-16, they have always been good to me, both in performance and preload requirements.
