thread sealer important?

Default thread sealer important?

just wondering im rebuilding a 2004 5.3L and was wondering of you have to use thread sealer or anything on the rocker bolts? or can you just put them in dry? thanks for any help

If they are stock heads the holes dont go into anything. Mine are ported and the bolt holes are open in the runner... ive put them together with no sealer a few times and never had a problem. If it did leak past the threads that are tight it would probably be like a half a teaspoon every 20,000 miles....never even noticeable.

Like already said, if the heads are stock, untouched castings, the hole is blind. You can just install them, or, apply some medium strength loc tite for good measure.
