Default which heads? L92s or stage 2 243s???

figured i would post this here as well as pt.net since i know theres alot more people here on tech, well i finally bought my brand new LQ9 shortblock, and im trying to decide on what heads to go with. Keep in mind im very ignorant when it comes to heads. I know next to nothing about them.

Im thinking about running a ms4 cam, MAYBE a trex cam, and thats a big maybe. and im thinking about getting the FAST 102 intake, anyways my goals are to have a mid to high 11 second truck, N/A. I know all the bolt ons i will need, headers, cam, converter, gears etc, just dont know the best cam/head combo to go with.

the truck is a 2002 reg cab stepside sierra. so what heads do you all think would get me as close to my goals as possible?

It is going to take alot of converter and all the rest of the components to reach that goal. There are alot of n/a trucks in the valley going fast with similar combos.

I might have missed it, but is the truck a 6.0L? If it's a 4.8 or 5.3, you can't use the L92 heads. If it is a 6.0, I'd definitely go with the L92 heads.

Keep in mind, getting a truck to high 11s N/A and getting a car to high 11s N/A are 2 different tasks.

Matt and texas speed said the MS4 cam with L92 heads will not clear piston to valve on a LQ9, any truth to this?

you can get the l92 heads from SDPC for a good price.get a custom cam that don't need fly cutting if you don't want to fly cut.

And in addition to that, even with flycutting the pistons, the Magic Stick is not the best choice/design for the rectangle port heads. We can get you setup with a much better combo than that for sure!
