Default lifter replacement
It looks like i will have to pull the head to replace a lifter on an 02 LS1, am i right? Unlike the small block chevy...correct.

yes, you need to pull the heads to change the lifters. you'll need new gaskets and bolts as well, since head bolts are TTY. buy new oem bolts or look into some ARP head studs.
