Default new 5.3 block was told its an ls-6 with smaller sleeves true or not ?

anyone know if this is true + what they can be safely be bored too

most 5.3 blocks were iron when the ls6 block was in production, so I am going to say thats false... although I could be wrong.

I read that you could resleeve it to a 5.7 bore, but not sure if they are the "same" block.

was told the sleeves are just thicker and could bored safely to 383. no resleeve just bore them.

That info is false, you can go to 3.905" on those aluminum 5.3L blocks.

I have a 5.3 HO block and a 97' LS1 block and the OD of the sleeve in the 5.3 block is BIGGER! So yes, 3.90" bore is no problem.

great thread,I would like to find a block like that for a 383 build.dose this 5.3 block have windows cast into the lower block?what yrs and casting number.
