Squeaky sound from head...
Hey guys. I have a 2000 Camaro SS M6. its got 80,xxx miles on it and while I was driving it the other day i started hearing this squeaking sound coming from the engine. At first i thought it was either the belt or pulley. But when i put my ear up to the engine it sounded like it was coming from the driver side valve cover/head. It's a very loud squeak too. And when i rev the engine up it gets louder. Is this a common problem with a higher mileage ls1? Any suggestions would really help before i pull it apart. thanks guys.

now it is not hard at all to pull the valve cover, and the gaskets are re-usable so no problem there, i would think from your discription that is is a rocker arm wearing out/failed or one of your valve guides/seals is going bad. i would pull the cover and inspect.
on the other hand, are you getting a slight tick as well? cause if so it could be a bent pushrod rubbing against the head and rubbing it away

Actually i just started it up now and i listened to it again. It sounds like somethings loose under the valve cover.
