Default MS4 cam and lights "flickering" at idle

I assume this is expected, but can anything be done about it? All lights in/on the car pulse to the melodic tune of the cam at idle... I don't really care for it and would like to do something to stop it. Any ideas out there?

Hey Jon!
It was tuned by Ed Wright (in his garage) - good tune. Idles at ~950.

No udp here, and it's a pretty solid idle

You must have a weak alternator. No problems here.

Possible i guess but it would be aweful coincidental. I'll double check it for 14.2 V when I get a chance, thanks for the input.

Make sure all your wiring is tight and not loose grounds.

the f-body has a dynamic regulator which drops voltage relative to rpm, hens the wire that plugs into it. The GTO alternator(much more expensive), is the same unit but with a static regulator which give you full juice at any rpm. Relocating my battery, I opted to spend $20 and replace my f-body regulator to a GTO one and have had great results. I recommend this mod to everyone especially if you have slow window motors at idle.

BTW 95% of the time, this is failing part of the alternator. so no need to spend money on the entire thing.

Not sure if you're still looking for input but I had the same problem on my car and replaced the alternator with a 2003 Silverado unit and it fixed the problem.

I agree to switching to the truck alt. aswell. Its the low amperage at idle that causes the flickering.I went with the larger truck alt. that was rebuilt and has 140amp rating and my problems were solved and I have a rather large stereo system aswell..which at full blast and all accs on and lights on Ill sit at 13.5 volts at idle.Just cant reuse the fbody rear alt. support brace.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a Dick Harrell camaro doing this as well. One of the best sounding cars I've ever heard though!
