Default Ptv 239/243 110

Just thought I would share this. I ground this cam profile for a local guy, that he is installing in a 6.0L iron, 317 headed, single plane intake combo in a mini tubbed 1986 Monte SS. I was recently asked to come over and degree camshaft in, check ptv, and set up valvetrain geometry. Here are the results that I got:

Cam: 239/243 .624/.624 110+0
Heads: CNCd 317s with 2.05/1.6 valves with 65cc chambers
Head Gasket: .040
Deck: 9.231 (-.009)

Cam was installed "staright up" and degreed?
Degreeing results= 111ICL ordered 110, IVO 8.5* ordered 9*. (I need to advance it)

Intake PTV checking @10* atdc= 0 clearance (intake valve contacts piston @3* atdc)
Exhaust PTV checking @10* btdc= 0 clearance (exhaust valve contacts piston @ 18* btdc)

As of right now, I will need to flycut .080 int/.100 exh, advance the cam to where I want it, recheck ptv, and radial clearance, and then check geometry. Sorry for the long post, just thought I would post this up to show independent/other results for those "donkey dick" cam guys with milled heads and large valves who always wonder there set up/combo will clear or not?

Thanks for sharing!

Are you concerned with a quench of .031", seems very tight? Also, most profiles for single plane intakes seem to have a wider split, I would be interested to hear how that cam works out. Keep us posted

It's a fuel injected combo but with a carb intake and edelbrock 90* hat with a 102mm t/b. Flycutting is a must in certain combos.

Yeah, quench and piston to head is tighter then I would want it to be, but customer already had gaskets and can't afford new ones. The cylinder heads and intake have been worked on quite a bit, so I am not worried about running a 4* split.

thanks for sharing, kind of a similar build to what i'm gathering parts to build now.

lq4, 243's milled .040, stock valves, .051 head gasket, victor jr w/ carb, 23x/24x .6xx/.6xx 110, 1 7/8" headers. more than likely going to have to flycut myself.

I would have to say "yes". To close for comfort.
