Default Ported 241s

How much hp/tq would I gain from porting my 241s vs buying stock 243s? I'm on a small budget so which one would be the best bang for the buck.

it matters who ports them, i have seen 241's make great power in the hands of an experienced porter, but for bang for the buck, pick up some 243's for 400 or so and then sell your 241's for 100, you just make 20 extra horses for 300 bucks

If you were on a budget I would try and find a set of low mile 243's. There have been countless threads on here w/ 243's making 400+rwhp.

there is actually someone on here making 420+ to the wheels with a street cam and stock 243's...so they are some nice heads, or you could take a step up, and make double the power for 1200 bucks! for that you could get PRC 5.3 heads and it will come with double springs, higher compression ratio, and set up ready to go. you will still need springs on the LS6 heads to run a cam over .550, and that will be another 3-400 bucks. so you are already at 800 or so, so for 400 more, you get a better flowing head, brand new casting, and it is all set up to go, it is up to you

I ported a set of 241s stock valves and vavlejob. made 466-470whp 410wtq on my car.
Same cam, headers, bolts ons, with stock 243s, has made 440-445whp 410wtq. My car has a S60, other cars had 10bolts, both t56 fbodies.

money would be about the same, I bet your looking at some used older ported 241s for 600-700. take off 243 sell for 350-400. plus they need a spring kit.
