Question need your thoughts

here. i've been lurking for awhile gathering info about cams. what do you guys think about the FM-F5-114 224"/228" .586"/.581" 114LSA for a daily driver? i will be getting an 02 SS as soon as i sell my Stage 2 Roush. the SS is stock except for a lid. i was thinking about getting an LS6 cam but i'm not so sure after reading all the cam threads. will the F5 idle like stock or will it be noticable to others? how much hp do you think i would gain? would i have to get new rods/springs/retainers? thanks for the help.

That's one of the cams I have been looking at. That cam will be pretty noticable with that exhaust duration. Also your going to need a better flowing exhaust for that cam(ie.. LT headers, and a good cat-back or cut-out) to get the most of it.

i've also been thinking about putting on some hooker LT's w/LM. should i get the cam first or get them both at the same time?

My .02 worth...

Might want to get a cam kit from FMS with the proper springs etc as the lobes on the FMS cams are very aggressive. Some commonly used springs won't last long with the FMS cam. I think powerwise one of the FMS cams would be the way to go. Their 228/230 might also be well worth considering too especially if your thinking about doing heads later on.

FlowTech a sub of Holley is doing the Hooker design header for a lower price. These just came out, I don't know about the quailty but image they are on par with the Hookers. Speed Inc and some other sponsors are selling them. ~$269 uncoated and ~$379 coated, Y pipe was $129 uncoated. TSP has a new catback similar to Loudmouth called the Rumbler but with the bullet in the I pipe probably a little more refined sounding. It's like $225 or so instead of ~$325 for Loudmouth.

Be sure you really want a Loudmouth w/long tubes & no cats before you do it. It's really loud and many find it unpleasant to deal with on a daily basis. Something like an SLP dual/dual and cutout or a Borla w/plates IMO is a better set up to live with on a daily basis.

what i would really like to do is get a "stealthy" cam. i've seen MTI, TR224, and GT2-3 come up a lot. then i found this cam. which would you recommend? have any of you had any problems with the cams you've put in?
