Default 5.3 with LS1 heads and turbo

I broke/melted the #7 piston in my truck and it damaged the cylinder wall so the motor is trash now This was a stock Ls1 bottom with a stock cam and 317 heads and a Precision 74mm turbo. It made 534 rwhp at 15 psi.

I picked up a 5.3 that I am going to use. I am going to use a LS6 cam and some 853 LS1 heads milled to about 63cc. Any ideas on how this setup will compare performance/hp wise to the old combo?

Go grab a copy of April 2011 HOT ROD magazine, they did a 5.3 Ebay turbo with a ls6 cam. Dyno= 8psi(stock cam) 532/562, 12psi (ls6 cam) 594/588.

Ok, thanks for the heads up-I will go get the mag tomorrow. I have the gaskets, cam etc ordered, hopefully start building it up this Friday.

I'm building similar combo
5.3 with l33 head gaskets
.010 milled ls1 heads
Only mod to heads is I'm removing casting flash from exhaust ports and chambers. And polishing with 120grit rolls. Plan on 10psi with stock 5.3 cam and sc

Are the chambers on the LS1 heads slightly bigger than the 5.3 bore?

Yea. The gasket has a larger bore than both the chamber and cylinder bore.
I'm gonna take accurate measurements of gasket bore and chamber
Engine bore is stock 3.78
