Default Lifter bore

Hi,

I have noisy lifter that I will change next week. Some people say I might damage the lifter bore if I ignore the issue further.

What do you think ? How could this happen if there is oil and the body of lifter is one piece solid

Could it happen if oil valve fails?

Thanks

I doubt it, the oil pump pressurizes oil in the engine, whether or not the lifter fails internally, there should still be oil at the lifter galley for the lifters.

If the lifter get to noisy you will then start getting slack in the valve train, dont let the lifter get slack on the cam shaft it will cause the lifter roller to hammer on the cam lobe and cause the lifter roller bearing to fail, If that happens you can very easily take out the lifter bore & cam ,Remember these lifter are roller tip, They can take extreme pressure rolling around the cam lobe but not hammering on it.
