LS1 equipped 240Z...cam suggestions?
Sorry to post yet another "what cam do I need for 9253 HP" but:
Heres my setup:
1971 Datsun 240Z (weight with driver approx 2600 lb)
2004 LS1 motor (w/ LS6 block and intake)
Sanderson 1 3/4" headers custom for swap
dual 2.5" exhaust to a single 3" out, Flowmaster 40 Series
ported 243 heads (not milled)
The car is by no means a daily driver, just a weekend warrior, that will see some car shows, cruise nights and a few trips to the track annually. Not really looking for that top dyno HP number, but rather an increase in average HP and TQ numbers. Motor won't be spun past 6400-6500 RPM ever.
Geoff at EPS suggested a 226/230 .598/.600 113 LSA cam. I have read numerous posts about camshafts, and I dont want to be disappointed later wishing I had gone bigger.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Jay

I have a 1974 Tr6 Triumph with an LS1 installed. I went with a 228R on a 112 from Texas Speed. I don't spin passed 6ooo RPM at all, so wanted power in the lower RPM range myself. I'm about the same weight car as you. Just got the car running and on the road recently. Engine has tons of low end power.
Running the LS6 PRC 2.5 ported heads with the 228R cam, fast 90/90, the fast was ported by Tony Mamo. I just blew out some CVC jonits, so had to have both sides beefed up some to handle the extra power.
With what you are running, I think you will like any cam that will have power come in at low RPM's, and it seems to me the 228 R/112 cam works very well for that.
