Default HP difference between cams on an LS1?

I'm just curious as to what difference there may be between cam changes? Now my original plan is to pretty well max out my current PatG torque cam before I decide to switch. I'm talking about an optimal setup. Full Kooks exhaust, LT's and dual 3" all the way back, TFS 215 or AFR 205 heads, UDP, EWP, and roller rockers (to lessen any valvetrain resistance.)

Just wondering if a cam swap will gain anything at all. Maybe 10hp would be my guess. I know a cam swap is geared toward what you want the car to do and how you want it to act, but seeing as these mid-range cams are making good power with great drivability, there's no real reason to go with these overly BIG cams that end up making the same power as the mid range ones anyway.

Ideas? Again, on an optimal setup, will switching cams from let's say a custom 228 cam with .640 lift to another custom 230 cam with maybe .610 lift? -Just throwing numbers out there. Not sure there will be much of any change.

^ I'm not looking for cam recommendations. I already have one that I like. Just a theoretical question.

You will barely notice or even see the gains from a 228 duration cam to a 230 duration cam.

I know TSP posted a dyno between a 224 to a 228 and it was barely 5hp difference.

That's actually really interesting.

And if someone is going to post numbers, please back them up with some proof. Be it an article, build logs or whatever. Quoting from TSP is fine, but if you're saying "Well I heard this..." then I'm not going to believe it. My BS detector goes off real quick now days. Nothign personal, I'm just skeptical until I see proof.

It was exactly 5hp if I remember correctly and that was an engine dyno not a chassis dyno. Jason from TSP told me that around this time last year

I'd say pretty minimal even if you went with a mid 230's duration cam. Like you already said, you don't need a huge cam to make good power with these motors. For the street I would rather have something in the 228 - 230 range with a broad torque curve that still pulls hard to redline.

^ Exactly. I've got a "baby cam" that puts down MS4 numbers (or SHOULD.. Getting tuned in a couple weeks.) Drives better, and pulls just as good.

What cam did you get?

^ I didn't post numbers.. I made 414/372 @ TSP. Ran lean on the bottom end, not tuned right and ran rich as hell here at sea level.

PatG custom cam, 224/228 .637 .639 110.
Ported 243 heads
LS6 intake and ported stock TB.
Stock 26# injectors

I just finished a 102/102 swap with 42# injectors, so I'm waiting to get tuned now before I can post new numbers. SHOULD be right in MS4 territory at around 440rw now.
