help! oil pressure dropped!
So I have 4000 miles on this engine. Here recently my oil pressure has been dropping slowly at hot. Today at idle it dropped to 0. Rev it and it goes to 20ish. Burning some oil too but only blows some smoke when I rev. Wtf

At this point it could be any number of things..... It don't sound good. I would not run it again until you find your problem. Best thing to do is pull the plugs and do a compression check and cylinder pressure test. If that's OK. Then I would install a manual gauge and check pressure. If it still shows low, then pull the oil filter and cut it open real easy and check for metal flakes. And if you see some,,,,,,,,, Well, you know the rest of the story...................Tear down time. Good luck..............

In order for it to burn oil it has to get in the combustion chamber. And if it only does it under hard braking, that would have me to believe that it is sucking oil from somewhere. Just wondering if it is maybe sucking it threw the pcv valve? But that would not explain the low oil pressure. Not unless one of the oil returns are stopped up in the head and the oil is pooling in the head and not returning quick enough to the oil pan causing starvation due to oil build up in the valve cover. Just a thought.............

very true. i figure the low oil pressure could be from that or from a pinched o-ring. anyone think maybe valve guide seals? they are 243 heads with 15k miles. the engine has 5k on it since the rebuild. but its weird how its never done it until the other day in traffic when i slammed on the brakes. maybe its still puking from the fact that we nearly got rearended and she got scared. lol

so maybe a possilbe pcv issue causing the blue smoke? or maybe a valve guide seal? its a stock rebuilt ls1, 243 heads, cam, and headers. pcv delete hasn't really been done(i guess) but there are some small vacuum lines not connected right now.
