Default Head gasket

So if you where to take a LS1 car to a shop and have the head gaskets replaced about what would it run you out the door?

Also what would make a bolted cars head-gaskets fail with under 70K . I ran my old set up on nitrous and then on boost at over 100K and never had a problem so i cant figure out why this one would fail with just heads and a cam .

Dont know it was done by a old owner. And like you said i have not seen many guys blow out head gaskets. Hell even at 9 pounds of boost with over 30000 more miles my old bird never gave me a problem so it seams strange to me. The problem is i am in Iraq and dont want the car to sit for 8 more months with a blown gasket so i was kicking around the idea of having a local LSX shop replace the gaskets and of course head bolts. Just not sure what to expect cost wise.

I am doing a head gasket job on a v6 camaro riight now and I think I have about $200 invested in it total just in parts. I wuld say probablye about $1000 or so for everything, but I really am not sure. I can look it up on mitchel tommarow maybe if you need.

Yeah if you dont mind and have it handy. I had figured about 300 for a good gasket and ARP head bolts and then about 10 hours of labor. When you think about most shops charging 80 bucks a hour that brings the amount up to right around 1100.

I just did one on an ls1 and it cost me 250 for the gasket set from autozone but that brought every top end gasket on the motor adn then another 50 bucks for new tty bolts. arps are great but if youre not going to be going crazy on the build the stockers work just fine.

Most shops are gona be 1000-1500 Ive done head gaskets for 700 with parts and labor, even with a cylinder head rebuild. There not bad.
