Default Hybrid 5.3L ????

Sorry might be a stupid question but I really dont know much about LS series yet... I'm reading every chance I get, So on to my question. I'm looking for a 5.3 to do a swap into my 1st gen S-10 and I have seen acouple 5.3L's that came out of the Hybrid trucks, now are those they same as a 5.3L that is in a normal silverado??? I have asked acouple of people I know and no one was really sure and I dont want to waste my money on a block I cant use. Thanks for any info in advance.

I dont believe there is any difference. Even if there was it nothing major so minor changes would net you similar results.

The early hybrid 5.3L was a regular 5.3L with the hybrid parts being in the flywheel of the trans.

Well now...the notion of a 5.3 hybrid S10 sorta prompts me to pondering. I suppose if a person could get everything cheap enough from a donor truck it would be interesting to see how it does on mileage. Not sure it could be done cheap enough to prove worth the effort and pay off given the added complexity.

Not really worth it. The only mileage increase would be city mileage. It would not effect hwy miles it would be the same a a normal motor.

Thanks again. Everyone I talked to have said the same thing. Now all I really gotta do is get a 5.3L or just step up the the big boys and run a 6.0L like I really want to, just so hard when the 5.3L's are much cheaper.....

The good thing is you can buy a 5.3L swap in for cheap run it. Then buy a long block 6.0L, which will bolt right in place, later and all you need to do is retune it!
