Default Will too stiff a valve spring wear out a lifter or other components prematurely?

I've got about 25-30K on my PRC dual springs. I don't have a big cam, just a Torquer 2, which is 232/234 .595/.598 on a 112. I'm thinking it is time to replace them just for peace of mind. I don't track the car, they are all street miles. Anyways, I have been looking at replacement springs, and was either considering the TSP EHT springs:

http://texas-speed.com/shop/item.asp...=1013&catid=48

Or the Livernois dual springs:

Then I was thinking that these springs might be a bit much for my needs. Will a spring designed for a larger cam cause excessive wear or stress on other components?

you should be good, but try to stay within valve lift. .650 springs should be good enough... I have about 50k miles on my springs running a 231/237 .589/.595 112+4. dont plan to change anytime soon.... if yo do change springs then I recommend to change lifters...

Not sure on the TSP as they don't provide any stiffness values. However, the Livernois springs are pretty stout and with stock GM lifters you could have some issues. If the current springs are working for you and you got this many miles out of them problem free, why not just do a one for one swap? Also, PAC has some duals which are good springs, not sure on the stiffness though and you would need to check them.

Agreed I would put the same springs back in myself. However I see no need to change the lifters when changing the springs.

In all of the years we've been using these springs, we've never had or heard of a single failure (lifters or springs) and most of our builds use the stock GM lifters.

As far as the springs, we have even tested springs that came out of cars after as much as 60,000 miles with full bolt-on's and a large camshaft and they were still within spec.

I wonder if I should even bother at 30K... I'd prefer not to, as it is a pain in the ***, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

With that mileage on them you should at least pull some off and have them checked to see if they are within the manufacture's specs.

^ Winner. Pull a spring, take it to a shop, and have them pressure test the spring. Go from the results.

Looks like I'm the winner. Have only 4-5k on my 650 prc springs and just found a broken one! Anyone know if u can buy them individually?
