Default Looking for stroker kit advice!

Looking to buy a stroker kit for my 2000 Z28. Not sure what to go with. Thinking Lunati but open to any suggestions. Lunati has 383, 408, and 427 kits all with 10.6:1 CR. They claim any higher CR will cause detonation...is this true??? Also, is it a smart idea to bore a 350 block to fit a 427 rotating assembly??? Any information will be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Your looking at a lot of money to put into a ls1 to be a stroker sounds like your better off doing what I did and getting a LS2 or LQ4/LQ9 from the local yard or classified I got my LQ4 block, 402 stroker kit, machine work done which dipped in acid a few Times honed balanced for $2800 depends on your goals I guess Drag, autocross, boosted, sprayed ??? And taking a 350 to a 427 = disaster, i really don't think it's possible to take a 350 to a 427 I doubt that block will have enough cylinder wall to function but I could be wrong. Check out eagle that's the rotating assembly I have it, LOVE IT !!! Good luck in the build man

The 427 will require a different block, You can keep your aluminum block which is a good 90lbs lighter than the iron block and safely build a good 383, thats what I built. Lunati is nice but pricey, I went the callies route, which is strong enuff for whatever you throw at it. Eagle is a good choice too, its just callies has a better rep for quality and tolerances. My advice is this, stick with the same brand, if you get a callies crank, get their rods, I know all my stuff measured and weighed out perfect, the same for my wiseco pistons. If you are not an experienced mechanic Dont try to build it yourself, I have built more than a few engines myself, and this isnt one to learn on for a beginner. You could look into TEXAS Speeds assembled shortblocks, trust me for what they charge its a fair price, I built mine and saved some money but not that much. Hope this helps ya in the right direction

You can def build a stout 383 stroker . Thunder racing put together a 383 for a customer and it made over 520 horse with their new stroker cam. It's all about the money tho and your budget. Good luck

427s do not require a different block change and a TSP rotating assembly would be the best route IMO. Callies/Diamond combo FTW

use the ls3 block for 427,it wil cost more money to use a ls3 block .you can get a 408 from a ls2 block.alot cheaper to do.

427s can not be built with the LS1 block, you have to get a different block. Think you can use the LS2 block, and a couple different iron blocks.

427s were being made with LS1 blocks long before LS2s hit production.

Thanks a lot guys for the input!!! I am now thinking the Texas Speed Assembled 402ci LS2 Aluminum Block. Its not that much more expensive than the stroker kits and it is put together by professionals, plus then I'll have an extra motor to play with/sell!! I want the fun of doing it myself but Im not the most experienced. I've only rebuilt an old SBC with my old man and I dont wanna worry about ****** this one up! That way I can learn on my LS1. Thanks again guys!

p.s. will all of the engine accessories from my LS1 work with the LS2 block? for example - starter, headers, etc. I have SLP LT's on it now.
