Default LS1 ticking/clicking. Think it's valvetrain...

I've got a ticking noise that started a few months ago. I thought it was the valvetrain. Didn't drive it over the winter, and now after changing the oil the noise got considerably louder. I put in a Futral F13 cam 6 years ago and no problems until now with the ticking/clicking. The car still has all the power. About 30k miles on the cam. Any suggestions? Taking it to a shop to get a rough idea from a mechanic based on just the noise. Any help from you guys would be appreciated.

I would check for a collapsed lifter or a bad exhaust leak. A ticking noise will usually end up being one of those two.

My dad and I did the screwdriver test and checked each cylinder. Didn't hear anything unusual in any cylinder. The ticking/clicking is kind of high pitched too. Not sure why the oil change made it so much louder. Also, you can only faintly hear it once the revs get above 1500 RPM. Is this a sign of a bad lifter that is pumping up when the oil pressure rises? The oil pressure is still reading the same it did when the car was purchased seven years ago.

possibly lifter #7... they have a goofy issue with the oil pickup o-ring causing aeration and usually starves #7 of oil over time. I think if you go to replace it you want the "green" ring, not the brown.
