Default What did I find here?

I changed my oil last year before putting the car away. I just changed it a few days ago. Not very many miles on this oil change. I found this spring looking thing stuck to the magnet on the drain bolt/plug. Anyone know what it is or for? Oil pressure is good. This was the best picture I could take with my pos camera. Could it be part of the oil filter by any chance? Used the Mobile 1 filter. 206 I believe.

Sure looks like a coiled "spring" to me.......And I know of 2 like that in your engine. They are on the front and rear main SEALS! They are what keep lip of the seal flexed upward toward the crank.

They are from the valve seals.

They are the valve spring seal that keep tension on the valve stem.

What can I do? Change valve springs or wait for this thing to blow up?

To be honest, it probably wouldnt hurt anything to not have that on one valve stem, but... I would pull the valve covers and see which one is missing it and then replace that stem.

+4 Definitly part of the valve stem seal. Not going to hurt the motor. Might get some smoke on startup. Pretty easy fix if you are just replace the one. you'll need a valve spring compressor that will work in the car though.

I have 57k miles on the od right now. I think I put the cam in around 45 or so. I used patriot gold valve springs instead of the cheaper springs. Should I be okay to just keep on going or pull the covers and replace some parts? I drive the car just a few times a month. Probably 2k a year.
