Default auto with 4k stall, what cam?

I'm currently looking for a cam for my car and im very interested in tsp cams and possibly heads later down the road. With that being said I was wondering what cam you guys would suggest for a 98 trans am, auto, 70 k, with a yank ss 4 k stall, 3.73 gears, bbk manifold and headers, cut out, borla exhaust, ud pulley, 80 mm tb, slp lid. my car is used for street and strip but is only driven about 2 to 3 thousand miles a year. im looking for something that will match up well with my set up. I do not want to cut the pistons and I will be upgrading the whole valvetrain.

Why the hell is there a 4k stall and no cam in there? Thats kinda backwards. Usually you get a cam, then a stall to match!

but with a 4k stall, you would need a pretty big cam to have that big of a stall make sense.

Ya, I was looking at the 233/239 or ms3 but I want it to match up right. The stall was just installed and I'm saving up a little more for the cam.

NO, you get a stall and then a cam. Or you do it at the same time. Otherwise you can't drive it. How are you going to drive a car with a big cam and a factory stall?

To the OP: you have many options. Depending on what else you have planned. With that large of a stall I would go with at least a low 230's cam.

The car runs fine with the stall, just get a good tuner.

With 373 gears and a 4k stall you can run a pretty big cam if you want and it will still work well. The MS3 is a proven good performer and would still leave some options on the table for heads later down on the road if you do not want to fly cut your pistons.

That's the thing, I want a cam that will work with heads down the road and currently I do not want to fly cut.

Cant spin a lot of rpm with the 98 rod bolts. I would suggest something around the 230 mark. I'm running a Cam Motion grind and spinning a tad over 6k with a Yank 4k and its a great combo.

Damn it! You are running the Costco hood?

OP depends on how high you want to rev your engine. Is a 4k stalled MS3 ridiculous to drive?

I know you need both to drive. But usually you choose the cam you want/need and get the stall/supporting mods to match.
