Default 6.0l Build advice

I have a 2004 LQ4 that has 149k miles on it. When I get back from Afghanistan I plan to go through it completely. I will take it to the track and would like to make as close to 500rwhp as possible. The motor will go in my 85 Chevy Truck. I have a few questions on parts to put it back together. If the bores are good and only need to have the glaze taken out of them, should I reuse the stock pistons or go ahead and get some new pistons? If new, should I splurge for forged or go with hyper?(There is a small chance that I will put about 100-150hp shot of NOS on it). What about the rod bolts? Should I replace them with some better ones? I am sure the rods and crank are up to the task as longas they check out. I want a solid foundation to build upon. I am open to advice on any aspect of this build.

Ooops...that wasn't suppose to post...yet.
Here are a couple posts that may interest you... https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ads-cam-5.html
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...am-change.html
I should be making about 500 chp and great torque with my mildly worked (bowl blended and polished, not ported) stock heads and a custom 226 cam. 500 whp requires some fancier head work and/or a considerably bigger cam unless you are counting the NOS.

I read those posts, and learned alot from them. I am good on top end, I just want make sure that the bottom end will be solid. Would hate to spend all this money just to have a so-so bottom end.
