Default Reuse or not?

I'm in the process of rebuilding my LQ9 and I have a couple questions:

The seal on my cam retainer plate isn't torn or gouged in any way but it only sticks out a tiny bit from the flat surface of the plate....Is that normal?

Also is this an item I should reuse or just chuck it and get a new one? If so does anyone know the part number and whether it comes with a new seal or are they separate?

As always...Thank You!

It's suppose to stick out a little until you tighten down on it and compress it

If you think there's one thing wrong with a seal get a new one. Their pretty cheap and it's good insurance.

I dont think I explained well enough....I'm not worried that its sticking out too far...Im worried its not sticking out enough.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I would get a new seal but I can't seem to figure out what the part number is and the dealer is useless as we all know. That was my original plan since I'm replacing every other seal, gasket and O-ring in this motor but it seems to be a real PIA to find this thing.

Anyone? Does that seal normally only stick out a little. I'm trying not to switch to a new retainer plate since the new ones have the recessed bolt holes and I already bought the ARP bolts....plus I've been hearing about a cracking issue with the new plate?

Get a new plate, it comes with a new seal. I think I paid $35 for it from the dealer.

I'm trying to avoid getting a new one not because of the price but to avoid the recessed bolts since I heard they crack a lot when u torque it down.

I wouldn't worry to much about the recessed bolts cracking the plate mine worked great. Just used common sense when tighting down the bolts down. The torque on them is only around 12ft lbs.
