Default Cammed Car wont Idle

After a hard night beating on my 98 Z (waxed a mach 1 and a 95 cammed LT1 Z28) with a 2000 LS1 engine. (224/230 cam with boltons) I cranked it at a friends to go home and it cranked and died and I have to idle the car with the pedal. It acts like the IAC is bad but it seems to be ok. Being that its 1:30 I just simply want to get some ideas and a game plan on what I should do. Also, would a bent pushrod cause this issue? oil pressure is completely normal, long with temp, charge etc. It doesnt have an SES light and runs perfectly fine other than it wont idle.

THanks for any tips

I too was thinking bent pushrod.. did you spin it pretty high tonight? Bounce off the limiter at all?

Could be a dirty IAC, MAF or bad crank sensor....

Good Luck

I did not bouce it off the limiter at all. Highest I spun it was 6200 and that was once. Wierd thing is it sat and idled great when I was waiting for my buddy to move his cobra and he was being slow so I just cut the car off since I was burning up my 4$ gas. When I cranked it up wo move she was just done for the night I guess it never idled after that. Any change the IAC was just crazy hot and I go outside tomorrow morning and its fine? I thought pushrod myself but I dont get why it ran fine the whole way home and idled 30 seconds in his driveway before this. It didnt start after a WOT pull

Well Fellas, ready for me to make your night? Cranked it today, ran just like normal, drove it all day, drove it hard, drove it easy. Never missed a beat. I am baffled and have no earthly idea whats up. Next weekend Im putting springs and pushrods in for piece of mind!

PCM is losing it's idle, or it's kind of relearning. After you drive it some everything will OK.

My car did the same thing for a while. It would come and go...sometimes only once a month or every other month.

Replaced the IAC and it hasn't done it since then.

If your issue comes back, clean it and consider a new one ($30 on rock auto).

Yup, mine was doing the same thing a while back. Every now and then, it just wouldn't hold an idle. I replaced mine and have been fine ever since. An IAC valve may be in your future. Go ahead and spring for the $30 online part versus $120 for the local parts store as mine got bad enough it stopped working entirely and left me no choice but to pony up

I remember before I replaced it having to drive around and hold idle with my right foot, brake with the left foot and hand brake. That was not fun nor safe!

reminded me of when my Carbed car got a piece of trash stuck on the needle and seat and i had to idle it with my foot then too. opposite problem there (too much gas) but same effect lol
