A lesson well learned for buying used parts, never again.
Well I recently purchased a cam from a member on here from MA, today when I got the package I opened it up and all I got was valve springs an empty cam box and a cam card. I dont think it was the sellers fault cause I think the box was damaged in the transit, I will attempt to place a claim on monday with usps and see what happens. Damn I knew I shoukd have just ordered from TSP never again will I buy parts from a private seller.

Normally the person who shipped the package has to file the claim not the recipient. You should probably get in touch with the seller.
Did you have the UPS driver notate that the package was damaged when it was delivered?

This is true on the seller filing a claim. I shipped a computer and they delivered it to the wrong address. I had to take care of the problem, They wouldn't help him track it.

Buying from a private seller isn't always bad. People always think that and it really sucks. If the seller has a reputable trader feedback then it shouldn't deter you from buying used parts. It is a great way to get parts for less if you are on a tight budget.

Hopefully the seller DOES have rep and does respond when you attempt to figure this out. If the package was completely sealed I dont believe (assuming)UPS would send it off weighing much differently than what the package form would say. was it stated on the form the cam was in there? if not, well you know... seems like a small chance it was stolen or lost though. good luck with this situation

I third that. I would never put used internals in my motor. I am also very carefull when purchasing anything over the internet, private seller or not. Looking for feedback and stuff like that is always smart. And just feeling the people out by talking to them. I even ask for I.D if I start to get fishy about something lol.

The thing about internal parts is many tolerances are so low visual inspection can't tell you if it's worth using. I've bought used headers (or am in the process of it) and I would probably buy an intake the same way, but beyond that anything touching oil will be brand new.
