Default What the f___ cam is this ?

Hello poeple , I bought a cam from a member on here and I'm not sure what it is . The seller thought it was a 02-04 ls6 cam , then after I paypal'd the funds he says he made a mistake or was wrong or ? and it's a hot cam . Well either cam is fine with me but something is strange with it . The base circles measure from 1.372" to 1.415" and the lobes measurements times 1.7 equate to gross lifts ranging from .5423" to .551" so the lift #'s could indicate that it's a worn out ls6 cam possibly ? The #'s on the back-end are

0967
1 07
1336

#'s on shaft are

22.50
.342
01X

If anyone can shed some light here I would greatly appreciate it , thank You

can you post some pics of it? An 02-04 ls6 cam will have the numbers 5308 on the rear of the cam does it have a GM stamp on the rear also?

oh ya , it has "hot cam" hand engraved on both ends but the lift does'nt seem to mesh with advertised hot cam lift #'s

Part #12560967 lift-.466/.457 dur-191/190 lsa-114. This is a stock truck cam from 99-03 4.8/5.3 or 99-00 6.0.

It could be one of those cheap ebay reground stock cams. But the core with that number on it is definitely the truck cam. If you are confident in the lobe measurements then it's likely a regrind. The only way to properly identify the specs would be to have it spun on a cam doctor.

Well the lobes measure .322 some of them measure .321 and some measure .320 so do the math and the lifts are as I posted in the op .551 , .543 ....etc no it's for sure not an LM7 cam ,,,,,,,,I already have 1 of those I took out a while back when I started this little mild build . I just don't want the the small amount of vibration that is certain to be there at low rpm's ,,,,,,I better contact the seller and say WTF ? Yes that would make sense because the base circles are so small 1.38 - 1.4 roughly so to run it I would have to measure push rod length .......etc F___ that , thanx for the good news lol

I hate to bump an old thread like this but I have a cam with the same part number and we measured it to have .522 lift. And it has hot cam scribed into the end. What cam do I have? I guess I'll measure the base circle and see what comes up. What is a stock base circle supposed to be?

You can only figure the lift if You measure the base circle . The base circle is different with different size lifts .

its probably one of those horseshit ebay regrinds, i wouldn't use that ****. There's too many better cams out there and lobe profile means so much you just have no clue what your getting with them

Is there no way to know if it's a regrind? Wouldn't the base circle be smaller than a stock cam to achieve higher lift on the same lobe?? What's the stock base circle size?

There are several different base circles for all the different lifts depending on
the year or engine. The OP has a third world regrind. Not worth using.

Find a machine shop with a Cam Doctor and find out what it is. You put it on this deal that measures the lobes with a computer dial indicator as you rotate it.

Tell you everything you need to know.

I was able to get my money back but yes the base circles are smaller ,,,,,,,,,that sounds like the cam I had ,,,,,,,,,,,,,the guy I bought it from returned my money ,,,,,,,,,,I believe the base circles were 1.38? ,,,,,,,there was a variance of a few thous between lobes . Before I was able to get hold of the person I bought that cam from I was struggling in my mind about selling it to some unsuspecting person ,,,,,,,,anyway good luck .
