Default need some advice guys

I can't find exactly what im looking for in the search bar, so ill ask the more specific question. I have a 2002 ws6 only current mods being slp loudmouth exhaust and the slp lid. I'm about to go with a head and cam swap. I want the car to hit a lick but at the same time its gonna be a daily driver, including long trips at times. Any suggestions would help. I'm also confused on the header setup I should use, and what size stall ill need with this setup. From what i read i also need to invest in a 12 bolt and a beefier tranny as well.

You definitely have some research to do. Tell us what you are wanting to accomplish and we will go from there.

This thread will point you in the right direction:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...cam-guide.html

By the sounds of it, a 224 to 228 duration cam will do you nicely. Do a search on 224r or 228r, both are very well liked daily driver cams. As far as heads, there's a bunch of different ways you can go there. A set of 243's will cost about $400 used and will do nicely, or if you have the cash ported are better and usually go from $600-1000 used. For any cam you are going to need at least a 3000 stall. A lot of people will probably tell you 3200-3600 for a daily driver. Tranny should be fine for a while, and I'd wait out on replacing the 10 bolt. Its huge launches that tend to break those and from the sounds of it you won't be doing that right away at least or very often.

That said, I would finish up your boltons as they are much easier. Long tube headers are what you want. Keeping the catalytic converters are up to you (or your state), get an underdrive pulley.

thanks man that helps , as far as where i wanna go maybe 450ishwhp? I dont really wanna get much more than that, the car also has 91k miles on it, which from experience is nothing on ls1s. I just want the thing to have a hit to it, little more power and a good breating head setup. As far as the headers go, while doing that im changing mufflers, the loudmouth is starting to get obnoxious...

To get to 450rwhp in an auto you are going to have to really do some work. I would say 400 is a more achieveable goal with what you are wanting to do. It will take heads and cam though. All the free flow exhaust you can have the better. heck, for 450rwhp you would be better off getting a stall and a procharger.

although, I would be satisfied with 400whp as well, i had an 05 gto previously... i could still kick myself for selling it, oh well i was young. The only tracks around here are 1/8th miles. So i was hoping 7.50-7.80s on time. I go no more that 3 -4 times a year..

It will also help if you let us know where you are located. You are afterall going to have to get this thing tuned correctly.

I ran several, but it came down to which ones were easier to work on the car with. FLP were my favorite for this, but sadly they are hard to come by as they are no longer made. Hooker and Pacesetter are usually the best bang for the buck header.

That it is. It will get the job done, no doubt about it. I had that on my last Z28 as well.
