It's not flush where the bolt goes in. 1/8" forward on pulley.

How did you get it flush? Mine is at least 1/8" from being flush. I took a metal ruler that was 1" wide and laid it on the pulley up to the steering pulley to makesure that the belt was going to track straight. Check it put.

I'm sorry, I meant should it be flush ? My belt looks pretty straight. Just double checking everything.

This is exactly how it should be.

Thanks ya sir ! I primed it with the plugs out and it shot up to 45 pounds off the starter. I think it's ready to start.

Mine is sticking out a little more than 1/8" - is there a GM or other spec on this?

The service manual page shown in vettenuts' post above shows the spec as 0.094-0.176".

1/8" = 0.125", so if you're not more than 0.051" past 1/8" (i.e. not more than 0.176") then you're in spec.

Ahh, for some reason those images didn't load when I initially looked at the page... weird. I hope that step of transferring over the weights isn't required. I thought that was limited to Corvettes or manual trans cars or something like that.

I got the old bolt up to about 235 lbs and it was dead on at 1/8"!
