I just talkd to texas speed about a cam package for my stock ls1 a couple days ago. I ended up going with their torquer V.3 cam package. It would also do your ls1 good the throw on an ls6 intake and ported/polshed TB too. If you go ahead and do the cam swap you should throw on a ported ls6 oil pump and ls2 timing chain at least while you have it tore apart. From all the research Ive done on it they are must have upgrades.

good luck with your build

Do you really need to replace the rod bolts?

Only if you plan on spinning it much past 6500-6600 on the 98s. They came with weaker rod bolts and everyone who spins higher seems to have big problems
