Default Oil leak question

I just recently built an iron 383 for my z28 and since I got it running I have an oil leak from the back of the motor appears to be in the bellhousing so since then I pulled trans resealed the back cover and put another rearmain in and my oil leak didn't change so my question is what are the chances of the cam sensor leaking into the bellhousing? Any insight you guys can give me would be highly appriciated thanks

It's a good chance that its the seal between your rear covet and pan that is leaking of you didn't drop the pan when you put the rear cover back on...I usually rub alitttle RTV on the top of the pan gasket back there before I bolt the pan back up....its s PITA

Pull it and see, there should be two o-rings on it...

It seems like I have the same problem I have the auto trans off right now, and when I cleaned the rear cover I saw the oil was coming from the top of it. It's kindof a pain because you can't see it with the motor in the car. It seems there is a small valley where the cam sensor actually goes into the block within the bellhousing, and I have cleaned it thouroghly, run the car, and found it full of oil with a minute or two.

There is an "o" ring on the cam sensor, and only 04 Gto the oil pressure sending unit is right there beside the can sensor, so it could be that too.

What ever happened with this? I have been leaking quite a bit of oil, and my cousin put one of those cameras on a wire thing back there, and there is a lot of oil at the top of the block, behind the intake. Is my cam sensor leaking, or the oil sending unit? Or could it be something else???

Prolly the oil sender. I had to replace 2 of them on our '04 CTS (V-6). They are poorly made...
