Default Lq4 machining ?

How far can you safely bore a Lq4 block? This will be a boosted application seein around 15lbs. Is .60 over to much?

I'd suggest letting the blower make the power, and keeping it a more reasonable .005', .010" or maybe even .030" over-bore.

I agree totally. However the block I'm looking at has some scaring that will need to be bored. Should I pass on it?

if the "scaring" cant be taken out with a .005 bore and a .005 hone, for a total of .010 over size, i would pass.

You could have your machine shop check it out and let you know what it'll take to clean up. If it's more than about .030", I'd for sure pass! There are always plenty of those blocks, bare or short-assembled, so there's no need to use a junk block particularly on a big power build like this!

Hello , in My experience what looks like pretty deep gouging in the cylinders is usually not more than .010" deep . Good luck
