GM ls7 lifters failed

GM ls7 lifters failed
I did a head/cam package from TSP. The heads, cam, lifters, pushrods, oil pump, and timing chain were installed all at once by a GM tech. The first startup, the valvetrain was loud. The tech told me it wasn't the whole valvetrain. He had another tech look at it, and he said it sounded like some bad lifters.
This is what the tech sent me....
I rechecked everything i did. Checked the push rod length and everything i did again. I told you the wrong thing before. I have the 7.350 push rods in it. So for the hell of it i put the 7.40's in it today and it had some noise at idle but not much. after driving it and getting it hot. It started making the same tapping noise. I took the valve cover of and rocker arms and two of the lifters on the driver side, I could put the pluger down with ease with the push rod. That tells me there not pumped up and making the noise. Call Texas Speed back and see if they'll help you out.
I called TSP before I had all of this information because I though the lifters may be bad beforehand. They pretty much told me that GM is the one who warranty's those lifters. So you're telling me I have to pay for the lifter install and GM will just replace it with new LS7 lifters that failed in the first place?
Any advice or help..?? maybe from TSP?

If you just got them, I'm sure I can get you a couple new ones from GM. It is GM's LS7 lifter not a TSP lifter. I'm sure they will cover the lifters for us. If you need bolts and gaskets, I'm sure we can get you a deal on those as well. However, we don't warranty any one else's labor. We had a bad Comp lifter 2 weeks ago and we had to pull the head back off to replace it. Comp only covered the parts. I know it sucks but from time to time you will see lifters bad out of the box. Give me a call or shoot me an email so I can look up your invoice and we'll get the ball rolling for you!
Thanks!

He said that under a 3/4 throttle at about 2,000rpm's its got 75psi, so i don't think it's the oil pressure. I just talked to my dad, he's a service manager at a GM dealership. He said that they would warranty the work. Now the big question is, what lifters? Do I want to go with LS7 lifters again?

Yep, this is how we've done it. Soak them in a can of oil for a couple days and push the plungers in with a pushrod by hand a couple times a day. You won't get them to move much by hand but they will move a little.

That's fine. I'm aware that they're GM lifters. I just knew if I put TSP, then maybe they'd chime in. As for soaking them in oil. I'm in afghanistan. The only thing i've seen with this build has been some pictures and a cell phone idle clip, so It's hard for me to get very involved. I know that they're good for an LS7, but I didn't know if there was something better that I could get for the same amount of loot. I'm getting a full set of LS7 lifters installed at a GM dealership under warranty, and these are mechanics I've known my whole life so I do trust them. The tech that did the build has done a few LS1 builds with no issues. It's just getting frustrating dropping money on things I shouldnt have to. I've pretty much gave an arm and a leg for all of the parts and labor!

Make sure you use the thicker Oil pump pick up tube o-ring or you'll be chasing that ticking for months.

Lifters are really simple devices. The odds of those lifters being the problem are astronomical compared to odds of pushrod length or something else. The gm tech may not understand what you are trying to do. I would look elsewhere for the problem.

Did they actually measure for preload, if not start there. I agree that LS7 lifters aren't going to fail that quick, maybe the odd chance of one but something else sounds amiss here. Before paying to pull everything apart again, have the preload correctly measured.
