Question Cam size question

how big can you go with out fly cutting the pistons on a stock short block? i know there are variables when installing the cam but as a rule whats a safe bet as far as max lift and duration goes. reason i am asking is i have a track only car thats stock internal at the moment but I want to get a cam soon. anyway any info would be helpful

Probably a TRex from Thunder or an MS3 or 4 from TSP. Those are pretty big but designed to work with a stock long-block. You have to turn the rpm to get the power from those cams

Nice rev during "first start up" i.e. no tune. You should hear my cam with a 550 in gear idle But if you idled it up to 850 or so it would prolly push through that stock stall eh?
