Default Blown stroked 383 SBC.

So a buddy and I spent the better part of 2009 installing a stroked 383 SBC in his 3rd gen. It's a long block from blue print with vortech heads and he was originally running a FIRST injection intake manifold. We converted it from TBI to TPI, not easy to say the least. He gets back from Iraq earlier this year and he changes the intake to a Holley Stealth Ram as he was going for a high peak HP. He began tuning after lots of research and got got it running stoich via a wideband o2 and street tuning and I believe he was about to make some track passes for WOT tuning.

Last week he tells me the engine let go while cruising the interstate. Hole in the drivers side of the oil pan, dimple in the other side. The engine is still under a 36 month 36,000 mile warranty. The car isn't mine and I don't have many details. I just assisted with a big part of the install. We have no idea what could have caused this. He has contacted blueprint and is waiting to hear back from them. I and especially him are pretty upset over the whole deal. My guess would be a a rod bolt let go and/or it spun a bearing.

Attached is a cell phone video I took of the inital start up once we got the timing close, and pre-tuning. Just looking to get any input from anyone who reads this. Thanks

Really need a teardown inspection to get any idea of the cause. It could have been running lean, seized a piston in the bore, which then snapped the rod and put it through the block...but that's purely guesswork.

He can pull the spark plugs and get pics to post.

Well, blueprint has finished tearing down the engine. Their diagnosis was "lack of lubricant". And they have told my buddy to pound sand. Jamie is a US Army mechanic and knows a thing or two about engines as do I. Furthermore they stated that maybe the oil pump failed or a galley was clogged. Total B.S.

Blueprint wants to sell a product and then won't stand behind IMHO. Be very wary if you're looking for an engine from these guys. I wouldn't trust them with a lawnmower engine.
