Default AI valve/mill job 241s or stock/milled 243s?

I have about 800 to spend TOTAL, including gaskets and bolts. What would be better: 241s sent off to AI for their $500 valve and mill job or a set 0f stock 243s milled .020"? I go the 241 route, they will be milled as much as possible without any PTV issues. I would like to get to 57cc. My cam is a Spartan-spec'd 228/232 .581 .588 112+3. Thanks!

No. I have the stock 806s. I haven't purchased anything yet. I wanted to get people's opinions first.

Believe me, I would LOVE to. But that means my car will be down even longer and I don't want to spend money like that until I do a FULL build.

What would make the car FASTER? I'm not concerned about a peak number. The 241s with a valve job and milled to 57cc or stock 243s milled .020"?

I am curious about this, not many people get their 241's CNC'd.

241s sent off to AI for their $500 valve and mill job or a set 0f stock 243s milled
Interesting, I wasn't aware that AI offers a valve/mill job without the CNC. Seems like a good option for those on a budget.AI is supposed to offer one of the best valve jobs around.

If your planning on a rebuild anyway, just buy some stock 243s and put them on. Then when you do your rebuild send them to AI. just my .02

what would 241s with a good valve job flow compared to 243/799s?the 243 has a better port and flows 20 cfm better stock.243s ($400) good valve job($150) can flow close to 260 cfm..is there a good engine shop near you?save the cost and time of shipping.

What would be the appx gains from 241s milled to 57cc and a GOOD valve job be over stock 241s?

Get the stock 243s, they have a slightly bigger runners and will be good cores for CNC work in the future.

You could also have your 806 heads ported. The only difference between them and 241s besides the valve covers is the casting process. Once you start porting it is no longer a factor. That would save you the money of having to buy the 241 heads and new valve covers.

What cc are stock 241s? Roughly how much can I mill them to and maintain PTV clearance? For the price difference of buying the 243s and having them shaved (or not much more anyway), I can just get the 241s CNC'd. Ill ultimately be giving up 10-15 potential ponies, but that is fine. Thanks again for the help, guys!

241s are about 67cc, 243/799s are 64cc.
