Default Oil Pickup Seal Question

Does anyone know what the easiest way is to replace the oil pickup seal? Do I have to take off the front cover and accessories? Or can I just lower the oil pan. Thanks.

Tear off the water pump timing cover and balancer...the k memeber is a bitch to deal with or i'd suggest dropping the pan. Even if you pull the timing cover and other stuff you will still have to drop the pan down about a half inch. I removed/installed mine with a stubby wrench, a magnet, and some steady hands. The bolt that holds on the pickup tube to the pump is a at a super weird angle. Anyway good luck man...do a cam swap while you are in there!!!

Do yo think I can just lower the oil pan. I would hate to mess with the front cove and stuff. I'tt'll be a bitch to do. Don't need a new cam. Just want to get the car up again. want to get it on the dyno. It made 530HP at 4500RPMs. Think it;ll do alot better once everything is running good.

I read a post on here where a guy did it without dropping the pan. Would take patience and a steady hand. I porbably wouldnt try it, dropping the pan isnt too bad. You have to pull the pulley and timing cove.

It isnt that bad doing it but you will for sure have to pull the balancer and timing cover, because from my experience there is no way to do it with the balancer on. Like i said that k memeber is a jerk. i had to remove and install the pickup bolt with a magnet i customized so i cant imagine doing it with the front cover on....if you find a way let me know!!! i would be amazed!!! anyway good luck man....

Yes you can do it by lowering the pan. Easier to do it this way if you have enough room to get the pan off
