Default Intake Manifold for S/C LS1

We're trying to pick out an intake for my buddy's car with him. '00 SS with a stock internal motor, full exhaust, and a vortech supercharger running 4.5-5psi range. The car dyno'd at exactly 400rwhp at speed inc on a stock intake manifold/Throttle body.

As it sits, would a fast 102mm with a 102mm TB be too much? Would something smaller be more beneficial?

I understand this intake is overkill for most builds, but the car will eventually be getting a built motor/more boost hopefully into the single digits.

We're excited to see what kind of gains an intake will yield on a mildly boosted motor. Any speculations?

Thanks in advance.

With the setup you have now I would just do an ls6 and ported stock throttle body. With a FAST 102 you better order a pulley to add some boost.

ls6 intake and ported TB id expect 30-40rwhp over an ls1.

stick with the ls6, i've heard horror storries of the FAST intakes cracking under boost. and u could run up to 10 lbs of boost if u want on a stock motor and not have any problems

Well, eventually this motor is going to see 15-20 psi. And we'd like to not switch out manifolds multiple times if we dont have to. (I'm assuming a GM LS6 intake would hinder performance at those levels of boost/power).

Currently, we are working towards a goal of 11 second passes this fall with the vortech supercharger/4-5psi (old trim that is not made anymore from 2001, so pullies arent made for it anymore either)...The car will be eventually switched over to a procharger.

I havent seen much about the BBK intakes, those are metal, correct? I see they are 80mm, can they be ported? I assume the metal intakes would be more durable under boost?

Yup, they are aluminum so they can take boost and even a bad backfire.....I've heard the heatsoak argument, but one of my friends ran one for a long time and was in the 10s with it on his 346ci.

I know they can be jogged out, but not sure how much.

Another option is the Vic jr. or the one I'm running, the Edelbrock proflo xt....the proflo is 10.75" tap so on an F-body you would need to cut the cowl and maybe even notch the windshield... in my 04 goat I had to build a scoop because it sits up 2"s above the hood line.

Ask this in the FI section. But a lot of the guys are running the LS6 with no problems.

Id still stick with the ls6 over the BBK. And if you throw a 102 on it and aim for 15-20psi you better pulley the **** out of it cause with that big of an intake your boost is gonna drop significantly.

Intake swaps are 30-40 minute swaps.

Really? An intake swap is really that easy?

I also posted this in the FI section to see what I can gather up over there. Could the LS6 intake really take 15-20psi? It's plastic, isnt it?

Its composite and yes itll hold a good amount of boost. AN intake swap takes no time at all. two connections in the rear(brake booster hose and map sensor) and then the bolts up top. I was worried about installing it on my mustang and it was so easy I kept questioning if i forgot something.

Yup intake swaps are pretty easy....hell after you do it a few times tranny and engine swaps are quick and simple on theses.

The biggest thing you have to look at is the injector "o" rings to be sure they aren't tore or missing a hunk....I recommend buying and keeping 10 or more on hand.....when you go to install the injectors rub alittle lube on all the "o" rings
