Default How long can I drive on my untuned trex?

Well my car is in the shop gettin this cam put in. My buddy doing it for me asked if I want the car on a trailer to the dyno shop or drive it there. I know with smaller cams you can drive weeks on a untuned car. Car has the gears for the cam, it has 4.30's..My question is it ok for the car to go to the dyno untuned on a trex cam? Just to the shop no weeked driving or anything else

Thanks

See how its running when you get it fired up. If its running a little rich its safer than a little lean, but really rich is no good too. Don't be surprised if you end up needing bigger injectors during your tune. I had to go with 36# injectors, my stockers were at 100% at 5800 rpm.

I agree. I would not drive it unless I absolutely had to.

well theres gonna be a basic tune thrown on the car, so its not the stock tune.. and if people that actually have this cam would chime in, it would be appreciated.. I see not one person that as this cam chiming in.. thanks tho.

just tow the mfer and be done with it.

it might be ok, it might not. if you're willing to take the chance, be my guest...it's not my engine.

I love the idea of paying for a tune that is based off someone else's car just to drive it to have it tuned. It is a lot better than not having any tune at all but still kinda pointless. I would just tow it and not have any worries, the a/f is going to be way off most likely. It's a big cam and if it is lean the fuel trim may be able to compensate enough of off the programmed map at low load, but it's really not worth risking it.

Same cam I have, I read others saying they have driven it around without a tune for weeks, not too sure how reliable that is. My buddies wouldn't even run with the TRex on the stock tune let alone drive on the street

Let my old 224 warm up on the first start, drove to the stop sign of my neighborhood street and floored it. It was fine. Im sure you could limp it there easily. I would not drive aggressive though.
