Pull the spark plugs, and crank away. You'll see pressure eventually.

do you really think it will eventually build pressure? i was starting to lean towards the back oil plug might not be in place, i no for sure i have the front one but never checked the rear....a few moths ago my buddie ran into the same problem and it was the oil plugs, i just dont want to pull the trans and flex plate if i dont have to

Worked for me, my engine hadn't been run in 4 yrs. If you're getting some oil (BTW, where are you feeding the turbo from?) actual "pressure" can't be far off. Are you verifying with a mechanical gauge?

Temporarily remove the turbo line and plug in a mechanical gauge, it's the only way you can be sure. Factory gauges are as good as idiot lights...

Pressure is resistance to movement....I had this same dilemma with an old
472 caddy, it pushed out a 9/16 plug in the lifter valley. My money is on the
dumbell....sorry
Correction....I just checked my ls book and if your filter is full and since the
turbo feed line is spewwing it sounds like the barbell is in, however it does
say to JB weld the front welsh plug next to the oil pump for added security
or else the pressure will be nill. Maybe you can pull the H2O pump and cover
bolts to get a peek while cranking.

I had the same issue with my motor. Called the builder and he said start the car, fired it up and held steady at 55 psi.
