Default Wat are compstar rods and weisco piston rated to? cause i just broke one of them...

racing at super chevy this weekend in maple grove raceway in pennslyvania, going 6000rpms on the top end nxt thing i hear clunking, i pop it in neutral and turn the car off and coast to turn off. i go to start the car back up and it wont turn over its locked up. i check the radiator and its half empty and the oil level is rediculously high.

get to the pits pull all the plugs except for #3 plug that wont budge, i go to turn the motor over by hand and it wont move in either direction. pulled the valve cover and no dropped valves everything looks normal nothing bent so im guessing a rod let go and hit the head and smashed the sparkplug cracked the head and water got in the cylinder or a hole in the cylinder wall

wat could cause this? oil pressure was good, only 6000rpms, temp at 160, air fuel was good, and the motor was rebuild with rods and pistons in march, and im only making 450 crank hp arent these rods and pistons rated to much more? just want some input of why this happened cause im stumped, i thought my motor was indestructible...Guess not

It sounds like a hydro lock. If you got antifreeze in that cylinder somehow it could have shattered the rod no matter how good or what brand

Wierd stuff happens...recently had a streetstock engine that I built all of a
sudden waste a cam lobe, trash the lifter face, vault the lifter into the bore,
hold the ex. valve open, piston broke it off, trashed the head and the piston
but still ran. Very expensive but this was midseason w/no warning signs
and the owner stayed on top of his valve lash. Everything looked fine under
the v-cover cuz the valve bent and held the spring pressure. I'm sure you'll
find exactly what (chicken or egg) happened upon tear down. SORRY for your
loss. BTW strong runnin combo !!

Well the clunking I heard I'm guessing was the piston slapping the head and caused the leak into the cylinder

keep track of the injs and have them checked. Could be #3 went **** up, and toasted that piston....A/F could have been "good", til that instant..
U have any data logs?

I usually log everything but this time I didn't I had a reading on the car last month racing air fuel was 12.3-12.7 so I figured I was safe when it got hotter it gets richer not leaner, I'm still at the track I'm leaving tn and tm morning I'll rip it all apart and take pictures

How many runs you did in that motor from your last rebuild?

more pics to come.
i had one valve snap in half so i am guessing it broke in the cylinder and the piston smashed it up and bent the rod and i have pieces all over the place, the one head is garbage but it seems like the other one is ok with a few knicks here and there so i'm hoping to just get another block crank head and 1 rod and piston and rebuild it

Yes a dropped valve could have caused it that's y I run ls2 heads instead of ls6 I'm afraid of hollow valves suck that it happened a lot of good parts ruined but I'm sure you will bounce back
