Default H/C question

I am thinking about getting some new cylinder heads and a cam to wake up my trans am. Im pretty much set on the Texas speed 224r cam but im not sure what heads would be best for it. Would the 243 ls6 heads or the 5.3l heads be better?

Both heads are a good choice for your cam. If it were me, I would go with the 5.3's for the compression bump. Thats my two cents.

i would go with the new casting 5.3 heads for the extra compression without sacrificing PTV. also if you get the 5.3 heads you will get all new parts on it and the heads should last you forever with that cam

Either is a good choice IMO. I personally like the LS6 heads better.

Depends on goals & budget. It is the machine work applied to them that dictates their performance, longevity, etc. more so than the casting you start out with. Either works, but then again so does the original LS1 casting. Keep in mind your cam selection will dictate what you can do without machining reliefs.

I pretty much have that exact combo (TSP 243 Stage 1) and my car runs very hard for such a mild combo.
