Default LS6 Intake

I'm doing a heads/cam swap (TEA stage 1/Texas Speed 224R 114LSA) here in the next few weeks on my 98 C5. Is the 300.00+ investment for a used LS6 manifold worth the HP gain over the LS1 intake?

Didn't GMHTP get like 25hp/15tq or so? Pretty good for $300

Yes, the LS6 is a much much better intake manifold, not even comparable to the stock ls1.

From what steve wiliams said, not only is there a power advantadge, but it flows more at a higher rpm, where the factory ls1 (egr) intake typically dies above 5k RPM

Definitely notice the difference on the top end when switching intakes. Stock LS6 is a good mod for the money.

25 HP might be a little too optimistic for the LS6 intake.... 17 -18 HP might be a bit more realistic. It is worth the money. Your heads will produce much more HP/TQ with the LS6 over the LS1 intake. It was the first mod on my car. JRP (world famous stickie writer) did a install and a dyno test after his install and those were his numbers.

We are usually looking to pick up around 15rwhp with the LS6 over the LS1. Solid modification for the money IMO!
