SLP lid?
Everybody says this is must have but when I look at the pics of them I don't see how they could really make that much of differance just because of the neck size. Are they really all that? My air filter is a piece of crap Fram full of flies and dirt but the parts store didn't have a K&N in so I'm getting one from Ebay but is there any better intake setup than this SLP lid everyone seems to love. If they work then great but looking at the pics I just don't much of differance.

I'd buy a wix air filter instead of K&N and the SLP lid deff flows better because you eliminate the stock air baffles.... There are other options however. Granatelli use to make a lid, FTP makes them, Whisper Lids, etc etc. Slp was just the first to do so...
Also you could go fipk or straight custom could air by buying all the ducting from Autozone... Possibilities are endless
But almost anything is better then the stock setup.

i have the k&n cold air filter and it sits right up where the stock air box would be. i have never used a stock ls1 air box but it just seems to me like you would get the best possible flow into this filter, not to mention it is awesome with the ss hoods air ducts

Leave stock filter and buy a lid. A different filter will not give you ANY hp. I didn't even run any better back to back to back testing with the filter in and out it ran the same.

The difference in the lids are on the inside. The stock lid is restrictive, and thats why everyone puts aftermarket lids on. As far as the filter, well to each their own. I'm running a K+N and have been pleased with it. Its very nice to wash and reuse. One less thing to spend money on and it came with the car anyway.
