Melling oil pump question
I read dozens of posts saying there is no need for a higher pressure or higher capacity oil pump if your engine is already getting good pressure and within spec to begin with. The higher pressure and capacity pumps produce more drag and heat, and if you have a pressure issue you should fix that problem instead if trying to compensate by using a different oil pump.
My question is why I never see a recommendation to use the Melling M295? The stock replacement. I always see the 10295 or 10296 as the replacement pump of choice.
Thanks

In my Iron LS1 build i am using the oem equivalent melling. If the engine is going to be used for racing then i would have built it with a higher volume/pressure pump. But for just DD use then oem/equivalent aftermarket is fine.
Old racing rule was 10psi for every 1000rpm.
