Default PRC stage 2.5 5.3 heads discontinued?

Just when I make up my mind to buy the above heads, I go to the Texas speed site and it looks like they don't carry them anymore.
Am I blind and just not seeing them?

We have taken them off the website for now because of casting availability problems. As you know, they haven't been installed on an engine by GM on the production line for several years (close to 5 years), so casting availability is becoming an issue. As always, we're working with suppliers to try and keep a flow of these cores coming in, but it's tight enough right now that we have had to take them off the site.

I thought they were new cores? Or are those all used up where you have to go with used heads?

We have always used brand new GM castings. We are just low on our inventory on these. We will port a customer's used 5.3L castings if they send them in, but I do not forsee us buying a bunch of used heads to port and send out.

LOL! Get them for sale as limited with some great mark-up, and get into the aftermarket casting heads for no extra money out of your pocket!

My 2010 Silverado has a 5.3 in it and so do the 2011's in our company fleet. Am I missing something here?

New 5.3s all have 243 or 799 castings.

The 706 and 862 castings are the original 5.3L head. These are no longer made.

So are these better than the 243 or 799's? If so why?

the 243's are a better cylinder head, with a better chamber design. The 5.3's offer a smaller chamber for more compression without milling. The best thing to do is use 243 heads and have them ported, milled, and use a cometic .045 gasket. This way you get superior ports, better combustion chambers and high compression with excellent quench. All this adds up to produce more power, better gas mileage, and a car thats easier to tune.
