Default Pulling block from top with no head(wich bolt hole to use)

Well im about to take my stock block out from top without taking the drivetrain out(c5z).The only remaining thing in my engine bay is the shortblock...no head/intake/accessories,ect etc...

Normaly i would use the front and rear hole on the heads where the accessorie normally bolt but since the heads are no longer there i just cant do that...

Where do i hook up the chain of the engine hoist??? I was think directly in the block head bolt hole using the old head bolts but im not sure.I mean i could probably do it on my old block but i dont wanna damage anything on my new shortblock.

Thanks

Just use the valley cover bolts. I've done it plenty of times when the heads were off and never had a problem.

You know they make a lift plate for LSX engines, right? It runs about $30-$40 shipped and can be had on Fleabay all day long. Thats where i got mine. It uses the valley cover bolts to mate it to the top of the block. (Intake removed). Has eyelets (3) cut into a vertical plate that is welded to the flat plate that bolts on top of the motor. They work perfectly! PM for a link to the guy i got mine from. Very nice for the money and powder coated.

Since these motor have this option, Valley cover is the best option. I have seen some make a custom tool with a old valley plate, drill through the 2 Knock Sensors and reverse it so its proturding up. Then put a thick threaded rod through with the needed hardware and it acts as a home made plate.

The valley plate is a super nice option, however, the head bolts stabbed through your chain will work exceptionally well and is free.

Done this twice, and it works great. You already have the headbolts. I just used 2 short bolts in holes opposite of each other.
