Default Quick question about cleaning heads/cylinders

I recently pulled the heads off my LQ9 to clean them up, I sprayed some degreaser in the cylinders then dumped it out....everything cleaned up fine but was wondering if degreaser is a little harsh for the cylinders if so what should I use, brake parts cleaner?

Those are both harsh with the brake cleaner even more so. Just hose it out with the parts cleaner and make sure every thing has a good coat of oil before you spin the engine over.

He most likely means solvent , the stuff they use in a parts washers , auto parts suppliers will know what you mean if you say engine solvent or solvent for parts washers . You can also use warm water and dish detergent like dawn , but You want to dry it right away and yes a light clean coat of oil after any method You use .

Either one really. Wont really matter as long as you give it an oil bath afterwards.

Sea Foam motor treatment, as long as you dump it and oil it after. I have soaked pistons in a plastic tub, after pulling them out, with Sea Foam and they cleaned up great.

I guess I didn't read your first post good enough, I didn't realize that you were tore all the way down to just the block. Take it to Owensby's on Pear Street in Lakeland. They will hot tank it and the heads. I had them do a SBC recently. They checked for cracks and installed cam bearings and they did everything for about $150.
