Default quick Porting question

porting a set of 241 heads and was just wondering what i was supposed to do with the valve guides. am i supposed to cut them flush? push them back? seems like porting would scuff up the valve guides pretty good (not on purpose of course), or does it not matter and you just smooth the nicks out when your doing the cartridge rolls. also does the same apply to both intake and exhaust valve guides? thanks

You could cut them down a little (I wouldn't necessarily cut them flush). Alot of people make a teardrop that flows to them to smooth the flow around the guide.

Really the only way to repair spots that are too thin is welding more aluminum then machining back to stock and porting from there . But aluminum can be a little tricky to get it to burn in real good because of surface oxidation , if You know what You're doing it can be done successfully . If I can , whenever I weld a cracked head I first put the stripped head on the grill for half an hour , then weld it .
