Default Cam on Stock Heads?

Just a few quick questions.

1. What would be the most aggresive cam I could run on stock heads and what other engine acceceries would I need to make it work properly.
*Dont have enough money for head/cam kit.*
2. Should i just save up and wait until i have the money for the head/cam kit? Will i see much bigger gains with the kit vs the cam?

What's your mods? Are you a M6 or an A4? What are your plans for the car? Anyone that reads this is going to need to know these things to be able to help you out.

The Thunder T-Rex Cam made a little 450rwhp on stock heads. You need at least headers, ls6 or lsx intake, pulley, and if you are a a4 a good size stall.

Sry bout that... Just woke up..

Um...Fairly stock m6 with lid, k&n, and cutout.
I want a cam that will give me good power without killing my engine. I just want a street car than could possibly give a vette a good run for their money.

Personally, I'd wait for the $$ to do H/C. I'm in the same boat and would love ~430rwhp, but can't justify the Cam OMLY set-up to get me there, with the "livability factor" or such a radical cam (subjective of course), the maintenence (springs, tuning etc) I would just rather get a milder cam, with opened up heads for the same result, with probably more area under the curve. Besides, my motor is getting up there in miles, and it's a good excuse to get the heads taken care of.
Why not go ALL-OUT on the bolt-ons, Headers, pullies, LS6 intake, MAF, injectors, etc. (HP tuner )That should give you a decent boost, and then when you are ready for the H/C, you will really be ready!

If you are going to stay fairly stock just look into pretty much any of the 224/224 cams. I've been looking into the FMS 226/226 really hard and it's an impressive cam in my eyes, with not too much lift and good idle qualities.

Yeah, i would love to do that... but money is kinda tight for me. Thats why i was wondering about the cam only. If i had the money I would definatly get some decent heads. I was hoping for some kind of notisable gains off the cam only. My engine is also getting up there in age and miles so im very worried about it killing my engine.

The 224 is popular and makes decent power. Call up FMS or TSP they can help you out. You could possibly run the FM11 228/230 or the TSP 228/228.

I would look into the 224 also....as you can see that's what I'm running. But with a M6 you could definetly get to 400 rwhp with minor bolt-ons (LT's, pulley, TB) and a good tune. I've seen it done.

With that amount.....that's a vette killer IMO. (well unless the vette is modded lol)

I have the TSP 224 with the .581" lift and 114 LSA. It made a noticeable difference. I am getting it tuned Monday and I will post again after that. I hope I gain some more power. With my car set up the way it is now I can beat a stock vette. My car will run 12.3x to 12.4x before the tune. I am hoping for a really low 12 or possible high 11.
